Car Parking in Limerick City
If you're looking to park your Limerick car hire, you will find the city more affordable than others in the region, both on the street and in the numerous multi-storey car parks. Also, in comparison with other cities its size, Limerick has a high number of available spaces. Limerick's Chamber of Commerce reports that there are almost 4,000 on-street spaces, a quarter of which are located in the city centre, and nearly 6,000 spaces in off-street car parks.
Payment for on-street parking is available two ways: by purchasing parking discs, or with a credit card authorization through an automated phone system. First, the purchase of disposable parking discs, starting at €2, can cover anything from one to three hours depending on the location. These discs are sold at dozens of locations throughout the city.
The other way to pay for on-street parking is through an automated system identical to the one used in Cork and some locations in Dublin. The system requires motorists to register online and to display their ID sticker in the corner of their vehicle's windshield. Once service is set up, users can top up their parking credit through the website, over the phone, or at retail shops displaying the ParkMagic logo.
Off-street parking is available at privately run multi-storey garages throughout Limerick, especially in the city centre. Rates for parking are typically less than €2 but can run as high as €3 for the first hour.
