On the 19th of May the golfing world will set their eyes upon the magnificence of The K Club. This year’s Irish Open will take place in the County Kildare estate and it’s certainly a tournament not to be missed. It’s the first time this illustrious competition will be hosted in The K Club, a course that has hosted both the European Championship and the Ryder Cup in 2006.
Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington and fellow major winners Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and Martin Kaymer all featuring, while Shane Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick, Lee Westwood and defending champion Søren Kjeldsen add to the star-studded field. The man of the moment, current Masters Champion Danny Willett will also mark his first European appearance since receiving his Green Jacket in Augusta.
Could this be the year Rory McIlroy finally takes home the trophy? Or will another Irish name like Shane Lowry enjoy some form close to home. If you’re travelling around Kildare we now have a location in the town of Naas, situated close by to the K Club and major roadways that travel throughout the country.
