As we look ahead to what’s coming up in June nothing stands out more in the Irish public than the European Championship, taking place in France and kicking off on June 10th. It’s the first time in the history of the competition that Ireland have qualified for consecutive European Championships.
Having finished third in Group D of the qualification stage Ireland had to get by Bosnia & Herzegovina to advance to the competition proper. In doing so they now find themselves among the top teams Europe has to offer. Accompanying our Boys in Green in Group E will be Belgium, Italy and Sweden. 3 tough games await and Ireland will hope to at least go one better than they did in Euro 2012 by winning one game.
Martin O’Neill and his troops will have full support and if they could string together a couple of good results who knows what could happen. Could we see the party atmosphere that took over the country during Italia 90 rise again? Will we be singing “We’re all part of Martin’s army”? Only time will tell but it’s certainly fantastic for Ireland to once again have a team in a major tournament to kick off what we all hope will be a fantastic summer.
Heading over to France to cheer on the team? If you need a car you can book to pick up at any French location through our website.
