Shannon Airport Facilities
Shannon Airport was given a 21st-century makeover and reopened in March of 2000 with updated facilities. All traveller essentials are covered, with everything from left luggage and porterage to a quiet prayer hall on offer.
If you travel with a notebook computer, you'll find broadband WiFi internet broadcast as a free service throughout the terminal. Those without their own computer can stop by the WHSmith bookstore located in the Arrivals Hall to use a coin- or card-operated internet kiosk.
There's also a post pox in the Arrivals Hall, next to Londis convenience store, but it's only equipped to handle letters and post cards. This area is where most of the airport's facilities are located, including a baby changing area, bureaux de change and desks where you can arrange cheap car hire in Shannon Airport. A Bank of Ireland branch is also found in the Arrivals Hall on the outside wall near the tourist information office.
If you've cleared security ahead of schedule and have time to decompress, Shannon Airport offers two executive lounges on the outskirts of the departure area. These lounges are open to Aer Lingus Gold Circle members and select first-class passengers, but anyone can purchase admission in three-hour blocks. Amenities include complimentary refreshments, a business centre, a television and shower facilities.
You won't have to search for the desks offering car rental in Shannon Airport. The main station flanks the exit on the arrivals side of the terminal. There's also a smaller booth near the luggage carousels where those who have pre-booked service through Europcar can initiate the pick-up process.
