Shannon Airport Information

Shannon Public Transport

Few travellers flying into Shannon stay in the purpose-built Shannon city centre. Most pass the time in Limerick or Ennis, which are located less than 25 kilometres to the east and north, respectively.

By car
The N18 passes to the immediate east of airport grounds. Travelling to Limerick delivers drivers to a confluence of motorways including the N7, N24, N20 and N21. The routes connecting Limerick to Dublin, Cork and Galway have been recently updated, setting drivers up for seamless connections through Shannon Airport car hire.

The airport's short-term and long-term car parks are operated by the Shannon Airport Authority and patrolled by airport police. A thousand short-term spaces are situated immediately across form the terminal entrance, backed by three times as many long-term spaces.

By bus
There are two major bus companies providing service from Shannon Airport. JJ Kavanagh & Sons works locally and connects passengers with Limerick (30 minutes or more) and Dublin (3 hours, 15 minutes). Bus Éireann is also on site, operating additional routes to Cork (2 hours, 30 minutes), Galway (1 hour, 45 minutes) and Ennis (50 minutes).

By taxi
The Shannon Airport cab desk lies in the middle of the Arrivals Hall. It's open whenever flights are arriving, and it offers service in a 50-kilometre radius of the terminal. Approximate fares are listed on the airport's website, but the final price is agreed upon by the driver and passenger. Journeys of longer than 50 kilometres can also be arranged, but it's much more cost-effective to seek out cheap car hire in Shannon Airport.
