Bordered to the north by the Gulf of Finland, the east by Russia, the south by Latvia and to the west by the Baltic Sea. Despite its northern latitude, Estonia is known to enjoy pleasantly temperate summers – sometimes as warm as 30° C – and 19 hours of daylight. In the winter, though, it can easily drop below freezing, but this turns the rain to snow and turns the country into a skiing and winter sports paradise. The picturesque towns and village become pure storybook backdrops when the roofs are topped with snow, as well. The Estonian people pride themselves on having the world's cleanest air, beautiful islands and coastline, thick forests teeming with wildlife and restaurants that strive to serve only the freshest food. Over 1.5 million visitors enjoy the Old Town every year and Tallinn Passenger port is one of the busiest cruise destinations in the Baltic, with more than 520,000 passengers disembarking annually. The Old Town dates from the 10th century and prospered under Danish, Swedish and German rule to become one of the wealthiest and best-protected towns in the world. Nowadays, the Old Town is a fantastic place to stroll the streets and enjoy the amazing views, yet it also features top restaurants, lively bars and nightclubs, and the latest in shopping.

The Järvselja hiking trail winds through magnificent and untouched conservation areas, while the Vällamägi, Estonia's highest location, is covered by a thick spruce woodland and steams in the rain.
