Knock Airport Facilities
A €5.5 million extension to the terminal building at Ireland West Airport Knock was completed in 2009. Improvements included a 3,000-square-meter expansion of the airport's passenger facilities as well as the implementation of an improved arrival and departure information system and a new instrument landing system. The expansion increased retail and departure lounge space and unveiled new security and check-in areas.
Wireless internet is offered free of charge throughout the terminal. Those travelling without their own computers have the option of using the coin-operated internet kiosks located at the Sláinte Restaurant. Two additional coin-op internet stations can be found in the departures area.
An international currency exchange desk is located next to the Arrivals Hall in the main terminal building. Directly across from the bureau de change booth is a Bank of Ireland ATM (exclusively dispensing Euro).
The Departures Hall is equipped with tax refund boxes that tourists and short-term visitors can capitalise on. If you keep track of your purchases and hang on to your receipts while visiting Ireland, then you're likely to qualify for a 17-percent refund. Simply drop the form in one of these boxes, and the refund will be posted to your home address.
Desks offering car rental in Knock Airport are easy to spot, as they're located in a row at the Main Arrivals Hall. If you're planning to drive your hire car to the Knock Shrine, be sure to stop by the Knock Shrine Office on the ground floor of the terminal. A great resource for pilgrims, the office is open during regular business hours.
